Real Estate Taxation

​Each year the individual Assessor’s Offices determine the market value of all non-exempt land parcels which is then used to determine the property tax rates.  Each county has a reassessment cycle at which time different townships have the ability to appeal the tax amount.  At Dennis W. Winkler, P.C. we are very experienced in the tax appeal process and provide assistance to property owners with same from start to finish.  This process includes drafting appeal forms, researching the property, researching comparable properties in the area, and attending the final hearing with the Board of Review.  Throughout this process we work diligently and efficiently to determine the best path to follow for the appeal in order to get the best possible tax savings for the client.  Throughout this process we compile authoritative evidence in order to help us develop convincing arguments to ultimately achieve the lowest possible tax.  We consult with a variety of qualified appraisers in the valuation of real estate for this process.  We are able to anticipate scheduled reassessments and policy changes by staying up to date regarding same which allows us to conduct a thorough analysis of the property.  Finally, we pursue all remedies in order to achieve the greatest tax savings for the client.
